We are a group of keen chess players who like to test our skills in the world of competitive chess but are also intent on keeping the fun in the game. Our membership loosely numbers around sixty, although at any one time, we might have sixteen to twenty in attendance on a given evening.
Our facilities are very comfortable with air conditioning and peace and quiet thrown in for good measure. The abilities of our members vary and playing strength currently goes from low rated tournament players to expert level. We do have the occasional master joining in.
Players of all levels of ability can find what they are looking for at the Burlington Chess Club: friendly games (with or without clocks), speed games, challenge matches, team matches and Chess Federation of Canada rated tournament games.
We are a club consisting almost solely of adult players (with a couple of exceptions) but we are intending to try to attract a percentage of slightly younger players in the hopes of generally improving the standard of chess in the area and also to make younger players (i.e. High School students) more aware of the fascinating hobby.
We offer the friendliest atmosphere of any chess club in Canada and we intend to keep it that way.
The first night playing fee is waived for visitors - come visit us and enjoy chess and friendship!
